Topic: Basic Automotive Introduction for Everyday Life.
This hands on class is designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of automotive maintenance and help them develop practical skills they can use throughout their lives. The goal is to build confidence around vehicles by teaching basic maintenance, safety, and problem-solving techniques that every driver or vehicle owner should know.
Topics will include:
- Vehicle walk-around inspections and identifying common issues
- Basic automotive terminology and understanding key vehicle components
- Engine oil: types, purpose, when to change it, and proper oil change procedures, including common dos and don’ts
- Tire rotation: why it’s important and how it’s performed
- Basic brake inspections and recognizing signs of wear
- Resources for troubleshooting vehicle issues and continuing automotive education
- An overview of career opportunities where automotive knowledge is valuable, from skilled trades to engineering, motorsports, manufacturing, and other automotive-related industries
The class will emphasize hands-on learning, giving students the opportunity to apply what they learn in a safe, engaging environment while gaining valuable life skills that can save them time and money.
